Privacy Policy
Transparency and control over your data are fundamental to our mission. Discover how we protect your information while you conquer your syllabus.
1. Information We Collect
We only collect the absolute minimum information necessary to provide you with a seamless tracking and syncing experience across devices. We do not over-collect data.
-
Account & Identity Data When you sign in via Google Authentication, we collect your basic profile information (name, email address, and profile picture) to create a unique, secure identity for your account.
-
Usage Data & Study Logs We securely store the data you explicitly input into the app. This includes your daily tasks, mock exam scores, error logs, deep work session durations, syllabus completion status, and custom subjects.
-
Peer & Social Data If you utilize the Peer accountability feature, we store your randomly generated invite code and the direct connections you establish with other ChaosPrep users.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your data is strictly and exclusively used to power the features and functionality of ChaosPrep. We do not use your data for advertising targeting.
3. Information Sharing & Disclosure
We only share information in the following strictly limited circumstances:
- With your connected Peers: Users who you have mutually connected with via the Peer feature can see your custom display name, avatar, live focus status, and tasks (only if you explicitly enable "Share Tasks" in your settings).
- Essential Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services (specifically Google Firebase) solely for secure database hosting, authentication, and backend infrastructure. These providers act as data processors and are bound by stringent privacy agreements.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if legally required to do so by a valid subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of ChaosPrep and our users.
4. Security & Data Retention
We implement robust, industry-standard security measures. All data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS (TLS/SSL). Data at rest is secured within Google's Firestore databases, protected by strict security rules that ensure users can only read and write their own data.
While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Right to Deletion
You have full sovereignty over your data. You can wipe your data from our servers instantly at any time:
- Use the "Reset Data" option in Settings to wipe all study logs.
- Contact us directly to permanently delete your entire account and identity.
